The dumplings I made are the Cantonese rice dumplings(广东肉粽), which is different from the Hokkien bakcang. For Cantonese rice dumplings, we simply soak the glutinous rice in water before using, while the glutinous rice has been stir-fried before being wrapped for the Hokkien bakcang.
