Rice Dumplings 粽

Prepare the rice dumplings for the dragon boat festival (端午节)

Ingredients:
Glutinous rice, dried shrimps, dried green bean, dried chestnut, pork minced with five-spice powder, roasted duck meat (cut in small pieces ), salted duck-egg-yolk, bamboo leaves, white string

Method:
  • Soak all the dried ingredients and glutinous rice over night, add salt and a spoonful of oil to the rice.
  • Clean the bamboo leaves by boiling the bamboo leaves for few minute and rinse thoroughly.
  • Wrap the dumplings.
  • Put the dumplings in the a big pot and fill in water, water level should cover all the dumplings.
  • Boil to cook for 2 hours or more, depends on the quantity of the dumplings and the sizes of your dumplings.  Add boiling water if necessary.
